GiftShare is operated by SEL-IT (Wijper 29A, 3202 Aarschot, Belgium). We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Data We Collect

When you use GiftShare, we collect:

• Account information: name, email address, and password (encrypted). If you use social login (Google, Facebook), we receive your name and email from the provider.
• Wishlists and items: titles, descriptions, URLs, images, and prices of items you add to your wishlists.
• Gift claims: when someone claims an item from a shared wishlist, we store their name and email.
• Secret Santa groups: group names, participants, chat messages, and gift assignments.
• Device tokens: for sending push notifications to your device.
• Language preference: your chosen app language (EN/NL/FR).
• Usage data: login dates (for referral qualification).

2. Why We Collect This Data

• To provide the core service: creating wishlists, sharing them, and managing Secret Santa groups.
• To send you push notifications about gift claims and group invites.
• To send notifications in your preferred language.
• To verify referral eligibility.
• To display relevant ads (non-premium users only).

3. Third-Party Services

GiftShare uses the following third-party services:

• Google AdMob: displays ads to non-premium users. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: used to deliver push notifications. See Firebase Privacy.
• Google Sign-In / Facebook Login: if you choose social login, we receive basic profile info (name, email) from these providers.

4. Data Storage and Security

• Your data is stored on a secure server in Amsterdam, EU (Oracle Cloud).
• All communication is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we never store plain-text passwords.
• We do not sell your data to third parties.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your personal data, wishlists, and group memberships will be permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to data processing for advertising purposes

7. Children's Privacy

GiftShare is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
